Where can I use Dock-Top panels?
Dock-Top panels can be used for marine dock decking, boardwalks, beach patios, attic stepping boards and more.
How much does a Dock-Top panel weigh?
One 1x4 panel weighs about 6 lbs. One 4x4 drop-in section with connecting clips weighs about 24 lbs.
Why are the panels slotted?
The panels are slotted to allow light to shine through the decking to help protect the habitat below. Some states require minimum "see through" areas on marine pier decking for environmental reasons.
How do I make a 4x4 drop-in section from the panels?
Connect four 1x4 panels together using 6 Connecting Clips. These are to be located at panel joints approximately 12" from the edge. The resulting piece flexes somewhat when handling, but is secure upon installation. The clips maintain correct panel spacing, increase overall strength and reduce deflection on loading.
How does the Dock-Top decking stay on the dock?
Individual 4x4 sections can be connected together into a continuous decking "sheet" by adding 2 Connecting Clips between 4x4 sections. For removable drop-in panel applications, add 4 Deck Lockers to each 4x4 section to lock them in place or secure with cable ties, screws or by other means.
How do I stop from slipping on the Dock-Top decking?
Dock-Tops have a non-skid top surface which is easy on the feet.
Do Dock-Top panels get hot?
Dock-Top panels will warm but will not get too hot due to the neutral color.
How long do Dock-Top panels last?
Dock-Top panels come with a manufacturer's 7 year limited warranty. With proper maintenance (winter storage), Dock-Top panels can last 15-20 years. Product life is somewhat relative to the length of season (i.e. Minnesota vs Florida).
How do I keep the panels from blowing off?
Dock-Top sections stay in place because of the deep ribs. These extend down past the support locations to help keep panels in place. The slotted design on the panels help prevent uplift from the wind. For extra windy locations or to prevent minor shifting, use optional Deck Lockers (recommended 4 Deck Lockers per 4x4 panel) or use plastic cable ties to secure the panels to the frame.
Can I use Dock-Top for my old dock?
Yes, as long as the dock has a center support and can accommodate the deep rib shape. Dock-Top should work fine for supports up to 1-3/4" wide without having to trim rib material. It will not work for 16" frame spans due to the deep rib configuration.
How do I store my dock decking over the winter?
Stack the panels on a flat surface and cover them to protect them from sunlight and the elements.
